Michigan Area Meeting

On August 8th, 2019 the Eastern Region of IPPS will hold an area meeting at the Whiting Forest of the Dow Gardens. Erik Runkle from Michigan State University Horticulture Department will speak on the benefits and technology of LED light.  D&B Plants owner Bob Kuszmaul will discuss current trends in the plant production industry.   

The day will also include a tour of the Dow Gardens where the founder raised his family and gardened. There you will experience a dazzling 110-acre display of annuals, perennials and woody plants punctuated by distinctive bridges, an award-winning children’s garden, and delightful water features. The tour will also visit the Whiting Forest in order to experience the nation’s longest canopy walk (1,400 feet long – soaring up to 40 feet above ground and accessible to all ages and abilities), the heritage apple orchard, rain gardens and flood plain restoration project.Come spend the day learning and exploring with your fellow plant lovers!

The meeting starts at 9:00am at the Whiting Forest Visitor Center at 2203 Eastman Ave., Midland Michigan.The day of tours and talks will end at 4:00.For anyone who wants to stick around, you and your family are invited to the home of IPPS-ER Board member and meeting organizer, Chuck Martin, for hot dogs and burgers (mid-west slang for hamburgers) along with yard games.
