What is the Foundation

In 1951, a small group of nurserymen, most from small operations joined forces to form the International Plant Propagators’ Society. It became a mighty force working hard for its members, nationally as well as internationally, as it provided critical information and relevant data about the newest techniques, newest plants, innovative equipment and production methods, and information about the latest research in the industry – it was truly on the cutting edge. IPPS became the voice of knowledge with its motto “to seek and to share”. Today, this motto remains central to the character and mission of IPPS.

With a nod to those founding fathers and their vision, the IPPS Eastern Region has established the IPPS Eastern Region Foundation. The primary objectives of the Foundation are to provide research grants and offer academic scholarships to college and university faculty, students and personnel, industry propagators, and researchers in plant propagation and related scientific fields. In so doing, the Foundation has made a commitment to develop future horticultural leaders as well as support scientific research that will pioneer new directions for the industry.

While the earnings on this permanent endowment will provide the funding for our objectives, the principle will be held in reserve, thus ensuring continuance of future projects, which will benefit our members in years to come.
