Summer Reflections & Growing Connections

25 August 2025

Greetings IPPS Eastern Region:

August is for baseball games, soaking up end of summer and looking towards our IPPS conference!

In our last newsletter I proposed a QUIZ question: what plant am I standing next to? If you guessed Eryngium yuccifolium (rattlesnake master) you were correct! Yes that is the straight species standing at least 5’ 7” tall. This is found in the cut garden beds at the Farm at Doe Run. It is growing in amended soil with additional moisture which has reacted as a steroid for this plant! I like to bundle these and use as dried elements during the winter, the texture is lovely. Do you have a quiz plant you’d like to show in the newsletter? Send to me at my contact info below.

Welcome new members! Some of you may be receiving our newsletter for the first time – having signed up as a new member to attend our Louisville conference. I look forward to seeing you in October.

Your challenge for this month: invite someone to Louisville, KY for the ER annual conference, October 14-17.

Kind regards,
Shelby
