Spring Reflections: A Message from IPPS Eastern Region President

Spring Reflections: A Message from IPPS Eastern Region President

Dear IPPSER Members,

April is here and with it, the floodgates have well and truly opened on the busy season in the nursery Industry. I'm thrilled that among the members I've spoken to over the last few weeks it sounds like 2024 is shaping up to be a great year. Decent weather, and strong sales to kick off the year are always a great omen. As the spring busy season trucks along, it's possible to start getting a sense for how the rest of the year is going to go; Hopefully hours spent planning, prepping and strategizing in the winter months are paying dividends now, just as all the extra hours now will pay dividends for the rest of the season.

For those of us in the commercial nursery world, let's embrace the flurry of activity with energy and enthusiasm this season. Sometimes it can be hard to see past the long hours, crazy pace and seemingly infinite checklist of work still to be done, but I hope everyone can maintain perspective on what is accomplished in this short window each year. Not only is the spring season where our business of horticulture thrives and prospers economically, it is where we as horticulturalists are in tune with the revitalization and beatification of landscapes all around our region. I hope that in spite of the challenges of spring you might face, with each box, rack, truck and trailer that you send on it's way, you keep in mind that those plants are off to new homes where they will enrich landscapes and bring joy to countless people.

Wishing you all a prosperous shipping season filled with success and fulfillment,
Matt Palmieri
