microMEETING: Trees for Bees, presented by Bill Hendricks, Klyn Nurseries
Thursday, January 20 at 4 pm Eastern
With the current focus on the importance of pollinators and so much talk on pollinator plants it is important to remember that many trees provide a lot of flower power that benefits pollinators. Research by Dr. Dan Potter of the University of Kentucky and others has shown the importance of which trees provide the most benefits and are the basis for this talk.
Speaker Bill Hendricks is an IPPS Fellow and has been an IPPS Eastern Region member for more than 25 years. He received the 2021 IPPS Eastern Region Award of Merit.
Klyn Nurseries was founded in 1921, and became the leading rose growers in Lake County until 1970. Emphasis started changing in the late 60’s to Taxus and Rhododendrons. Since 1987 the nursery has expanded to a general line nursery, growing 600 acres of field stock and 40 acres of container material.
It's catalog has increased from a 7-page publication in 1987 to 266 pages in 2021 listing over 1600 species and cultivars of ornamentals for the Mid West.
